Dr. Lorinda Sorensen is a licensed naturopathic physician with decades of experience in clinical practice, education, and professional advocacy. She graduated from Bastyr University with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Master of Science in Acupuncture, and Bachelor of Health Sciences. She currently serves as a professor at the National University of Health Sciences in Illinois, where she teaches pharmacology, clinical endocrinology, endocrine physiology, and botanical medicine. Throughout her academic career, she has also taught naturopathic history and philosophy, hydrotherapy, western and Chinese nutrition, pediatrics, women’s health, and case analysis in both naturopathic and Chinese medicine. She has held adjunct faculty positions at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, National University of Natural Medicine, and University of Western States, and was one of the founding directors of the Endocrinology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She currently serves on the board of the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians and in the past, the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Sorensen has practiced naturopathic medicine in several U.S. states and in New Zealand, where she also consulted for the natural health products industry. Her personal interests include gardening, art, and ethical foraging, and she is active in mycological communities like the Oregon Mycological Society. A life-long learner, she is passionate about fostering curiosity and knowledge in others.
